After 15 years of design and development of the floating hotel model run by solar power, at present, the price each night to rest at Anthénea is 336 USD.
Anthénea is the first floating luxury hotel in the world friendly to the environment when using solar power to operate. Not a giant building, the hotel is divided into many private suites put floating offshore the Brittany coast, western France.
The area of each suite is a width of 5m2, mounted solar panels to collect electricity, and has a certification of wastewater treatment before pouring to the ocean. The outside form of the floating house is a round, quite similar to the disc of ex-solar planet creatures. According to architect Jean-Michel Ducancelle, the unique design of Anthénea originated from inspiration from the episode "The spy who loved me" (1997) in the series of films on agent 007 James Bond.
Tourists who reserve the room will experience the tranquil atmosphere on the long coast of Côte de Granit Rose, in the north of Brittany region. The managing company spent around 15 years to design and develop this floating hotel model.
The suites all have a floor on the top which is an entirely open space with a viewing angle of 360 decrees toward surrounding water. This floor has enough seats for 12 people that is where tourists can relax, eat and drink, or simply sunbathing, watch the sea.
The floating hotel uses an electric motor to help the suites being able to locate, move on the sea, and keep floating relying on the power that is collected from 5 solar panels.
The inner space of the suite is a sleeping space with a double bed and seating area having glass windows for viewing to the sea under. Every corner in the room is taken advantage and its interiors all have a round shape from sinks, lamp, bed to chairs.
If you seat in downstairs, tourists can observe the sea creatures as well as your friends swimming outside.
The managing company of the hotel said Anthénea can be an alternative to the hotels build on the mainland, opening a trend for accommodations in the future. When there are many places get flood and rising sea level.
A special point is that visitors or its owner can move their suites from one place to another. Therefore, Anthénea considered a modern boathouse version. If you rent it for relaxation, tourists spend 336 USD per night, if you buy to own it, the cost of each house is 535.000 USD.
