With the water temperature from 71-degree Celsius to 82-degree celsius, up to now, the lake in the crater still continue evolving both in deep and long.
A strange lake created on the Halema'uma'u crater of Kīlauea volcanic, Hawaii (USD). The lake was discovered since July 2019 and up to now still continue evolving both deep and long.
In the original, the size of the lake just is worth a semi-struck, at present it has a 40 m depth, 268 m long, and 131 m width. This lake is extremely hot. Experts are still unknown exactly the water temperature. But they estimate the surface layer of the lake always maintains a level from 71 degrees celsius to 82 degrees celsius.
In July 2018, pilots of helicopter stared catching water flowing from a lake in the lower part of the crater. From then up to now, the water level has increased steadily. Water in the lake has a rust-brown color on the surface due to the reaction of chemistry that occur inside it.
Recently, images recorded by satellite on the development of the lake in the Kīlauea crater have just shared. This is the first time in history which a lake appears in Halema'uma'u.
According to researchers, the lake in the Halema'uma'u crater appears caused by underground water level at the volcano region. Kīlauea originally is a shield-shaped volcano, now it is active in the Hawaii islands (USD), and at the same time, it is also the most active volcano among 5 volcanoes that creat this islands.
This volcano locates in the southern coast of the island, with the age of 300.000 years to 600.000 years and emerged upon the seaface around 100.000 years ago.
With a heigh of over 1.200 m, Kīlauea volcano accounts for 14% area of the main island of Hawaii. On the top of Kīlauea, there is a big hollow and the Halema'uma'u sprinkle gate sitting in this hollow.
